Jock Mackay Memorial Cup, 1st Round
    Halkirk United v Inverness Athletic
    Morrison Park, Halkirk

It’s a break from League action this weekend as Inverness Athletic head north to face Halkirk United in the first round of the Jock Mackay Memorial Cup. Athletic will be aiming to go one better than last season’s performance in this cup when they reached their first ever Cup Final, only to be outdone on the day by a good Invergordon side. Shane Carlings side are on a run of good form coming into this cup tie, having recorded three league wins on the bounce that has seen them climb the League table to second spot just behind the afore mentioned Invergordon, so will be aiming for more of the same on Saturday as they look to book their place in the next round.

The manger will still be without the services of several of his first team squad for Saturday’s trip north with Martin Mainland and Martin Macdonald (injured), DJ Macphee, Ryan Ingram and Ben Hosie (unavailable) and Richard Finnis, who’s was called back to his parent club this week. However, Athletic are able to welcome back Liam Martin, Micheal Mcrobert and Ross Harrison who all missed the win over Thurso two weeks ago. Athletic have also been boosted by the return of Midfielder Ryan Macleod who has returned to the squad after suspension.
