Macleod & MacCallum North Caledonian League
    Inverness Athletic v Bunillidh Thistle
    Inverness Royal Academy 4G, Inverness

Inverness Athletics’ North Caledonian League season kicks off this weekend as they welcome Bunillidh Thistle to the Inverness Royal Academy. Athletic will be hoping to buck a trend on Saturday, as they look to secure a win on the opening day of the season for the first time, having suffered defeat on their previous three opening day fixtures. Shane Carling’s Inverness side have had an unsettled pre-season with the demands of summer football playing havoc with the managers plans and his side only managing to get two friendlies under their belts, but Carling is still confident that his depleted side can start their campaign with a win.

“It has not been the best pre-season for the lads with most of them playing summer football but it’s the same for most clubs in the league, so we just get on with it. We have had a few good sessions over the past couple of weeks and we had got the lads ready for what is always a tough game against Bunillidh but one we are obviously looking to win to start the season well.”

The manger will be without the services of a raft of players due to the Inverness Amateur Cup final being played on the same day between Loch Ness and Maryburgh. However, Athletic are able to welcome new signings Jack Mackay and Ryan Macleod into the squad. Martin Macdonald, Dean Allison and New Club Captain Ryan Stewart should all be fit to play and make the match day squad too.
