Inverness Athletic rounded off a tough pre season with a 4-1 defeat today at the hands of our Highland League neighbours Clachnacuddin.
It was no surprise that the Highland League side had most of the possession throughout the first half, with young Ross Logan a continued thorn in the side of the Athletic defence. An early goal from the hosts was quickly followed by an equaliser from Matty Shewen before Clach added a second and third before half time. A solitary goal from the home side midway through the second half rounded off the scoring on a afternoon when manager Jason Golabek was again happy with his players work rate.
“Once again the lads worked their socks off against a very good Highland League side. The players are only going to learn from playing against these kinds of sides. The first half we were sloppy at times and we rightly got punished for that with the goals. The second half I thought we battled well and got good game time for a lot of the squad, which is what pre season is all about at the end of the day. We are looking forward to welcoming Nairn next week to Muir of Ord for the start of the season. The players are buzzing to get started.”
Thank you to Clachnacuddin for hosting today, with an excellent Covid-19 setup that made us all feel safe. All the best for your season when it comes around.
