  • Inverness Athletics’ Under 20’s side continued their preparation for their debut season in the North of Scotland Under 20’s league with a win over Elgin City Under 18’s at Bught Park.

In what was fairly mild conditions for an October afternoon in the Highland Capital, it would be the visitors who would strike first. A goal after 20 minutes or so was nothing more than Robbie Hope and Dan Rudland’s young side deserved after their early dominance. Athletics young guns rallied after the Elgin goal, but it would take then to 5 minutes before the hour mark to level. Craig Macbeath hit a beautiful strike from all of 30 yards, which sailed over the Elgin keepers’ head and into the back of the net. Just ten minutes later Athletic were in front. Not wanting to be outdone by MacBeath, Jordon Morrison fired in a brilliant strike from around the same distance to put his side 2-1 up. That would be the way the score line stayed, as Mike Hall and his side chalked up their second win of pre season.

Mike Hall said after the game, “I am very happy with the lads today. Ok it was a younger level of opposition, but they were a hardworking, well drilled, organised side, and I am delighted with the way we came back into the game after going a goal down. It was a couple of brilliant strikes from Craig & Jordan to secure us the win, but I also thought that the lads were solid at the back today too. It was a good pre season run out for us, and we thank Elgin for coming through and wish them all the best for their coming season.”

Thank you to Robbie, Dan and their squad today for the game and we wish you all the best for your up coming season when it eventually kicks off.
