  • Inverness Athletic U20s continued preparations for their debut season in the North of Scotland Under 20s League today with a tough encounter against Strathspey Thistle.

Mike Hall’s young guns knew that they would be in for a hard afternoons work facing an established Highland League side but it was a challenge they faced head on. The quality and fitness of Gordie Nicholson’s side would eventually see them run out comfortable winners but Mike Hall and Andrew McGhee will certainly be able to take a lot of positives away from the game.

It was a brilliant afternoon for our young lads as they got to pit their wits against some very talented Highland league players.

Mike Hall spoke to us after the game “That was a good run out today for our lads against an good Highland League outfit. I thought our boys held their own for the first 45 minutes and played some really nice football at times. Once Strathspey took more of their first team squad on in the second half you could see the difference in levels. It’s fantastic for our lads to play against Highland League quality players as it’s shows them what they need to aim for. Thanks a lot to Gordie, Tommy and their squad for the game and all the best when the highland league finally kicks off.”
