Saturday 14th November
Macleod & MacCallum Ness Cup League
Bonar Bridge v Inverness Athletic
Migdale Park, Bonar Bridge
Inverness Athletic are on their travels this weekend, as Jason Golabek takes his squad North to picturesque Sutherland to face Bonar Bridge. It is not often that you face the same team two weeks in a row in the League, but the North Caledonian fixtures super computer has produced this very scenario this weekend, with the sides meeting last weekend in Muir of Ord. Inverness Athletic will be going into the game looking for a similar outcome to Saturday’s match against Rob Mitchells side, but will be well aware of the danger Bonar Bridge pose and their desire to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat.
The manger spoke to us about the upcoming fixture, “Its a strange one playing the same team two weeks in a row but sometimes, with one thing another it happens. We know what to expect from Bonar Bridge this weekend, having beaten them on Saturday, but the result means nothing now. We are preparing the players for another tough afternoon’s work and we are making sure that they are fully aware of what we expect of them when they cross that white line come 1pm on Saturday. We had a good bounce game this week against Clach that gave us an opportunity to give some of the lads game time that needed it and it have given us a headache in-terms of selection for this weekend’s sqaud, which is always a good thing.”
The manager will once again be without the services of some of his first team squad. Ross Munro is still trying to shake off his rib injury and has been joined on the injury list by Jack Wardrop and Connor Smith. Ryan Keil continued his recovery from a groin injury this week but unfortunately this weekends game will come too soon for him. Paul Gair and Lewis Smith are also unavailable for the trip north. Golabek is however able to welcome back Lennox Lauder-Smith, Lewis Macleod and Gary Calvert from injury to boost his options.
