Inverness Athletic FC are excited to announce the creation of a new Amateur team within the club who will compete in the Inverness & District Football Association (IDFA). This is yet another big step forward for Inverness Athletic as we look to continue to offer football in Inverness for players of all ages and abilities.
The newly formed Amateur side, who will play matches at Bught Park in Inverness, will be managed by our Under 20s Management duo of Mike Hall and Andrew McGhee. Mike and Andrew are both looking forward to this new and exciting challenge for the club and have been working hard on the training pitch, social distanced of course, preparing their squad for the summer ahead in the IDFA 2nd Divison.
Mike has said about the creation of the new side,
“We are delighted that we are able to finally announce our plans for the creation of an Amateur side. This has been six or seven months in the planning and will be a brilliant addition to the Football Club. Unfortunately, the Under 20s season was unable to go ahead due to Covid-19 so this is a welcome boost for us. The squad will be mainly made up of the clubs Under 20s players but with the odd experienced head in there too. Myself, Andrew and the players can’t wait to get started.”
Athletic will start life Amateur life with three pre season friendlies, all to be played at Bught Park in Inverness. AFC River Ness will be the first test for Mike and Andrew’s side, followed closely by a tough test against Culloden Blacksmiths FC. Pre season will be rounded off with a meeting against Black Isle United on Friday 4th June with the season hopefully kicking off the week beginning the 7th June.
Further details to follow.
